Jeep Grand Cherokee second-row head restraints may not lock upright

Chrysler is recalling certain 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles because the second-row head restraints may not lock in the upright position, failing FMVSS 202.

The second-row seat head restraints may not lock in the upright position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints".

NHTSA states that head restraints that do not lock can result in an increased risk of injury to seat occupants during a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace both second-row head restraints as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 5, 2025. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
