2022–2024 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator Brake Line Recall

Ford is recalling 2022–2024 Expeditions and Navigators because front brake lines may contact the engine air cleaner outlet and become damaged, causing potential brake fluid leaks and reduced brake function. Dealers will replace affected lines free of charge.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: This is a structural vehicle safety defect affecting the brake system. However, no injuries, deaths, or actual brake failures have been reported. The hazard is theoretical—brake lines may contact and be damaged, potentially causing brake fluid leaks and reduced brake function—but no actual incidents are documented. Per the rubric, theoretical hazards with no reported incidents score at most 3.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022, 2023, and 2024 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles.

The front brake lines may come into contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe and become damaged. This can result in a brake fluid leak and reduced brake function. A loss of brake function increases the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or their local Ford dealer. Dealers will inspect the front brake line and replace the brake line or air cleaner outlet pipe as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 29, 2025.

For more information, owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or visit nhtsa.gov. Ford's internal recall number for this recall is 25S47.
