Maserati radio software can prevent the rearview image displaying

Maserati is recalling certain 2021-2025 Grecale, MC20, Granturismo, GranCabrio, Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte vehicles because radio software may prevent the rearview image displaying.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: a rear visibility aid may not display, but the vehicle retains control and propulsion and no incidents are recorded.

Plain-English summary

Maserati North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2023-2024 Grecale, 2023-2025 MC20 Cielo, 2024 Granturismo and GranCabrio, 2021-2024 Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte, and 2022-2025 MC20 vehicles. About 27,354 units are potentially affected.

The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".

NHTSA states that a rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The radio software will be updated over-the-air or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 10, 2025. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
