2023-2024 Maserati Grecale and 2024 GranTurismo rear camera display software failure

Maserati is recalling 1,710 Grecale (2023-2024) and GranTurismo (2024) vehicles because software may prevent the backup camera display from functioning. Loss of rear visibility increases collision risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a critical safety function (rear visibility, governed by FMVSS 111) with inherent risk of serious harm. No injuries or incidents have been reported, making the hazard theoretical rather than realized, which per the rubric limits the score to a maximum of 3.

Plain-English summary

Maserati North America, Inc. is recalling 1,710 Grecale and GranTurismo vehicles from model years 2023-2024. The Central Vision Park Assist Module (CVPAM) software may prevent the rearview camera display from functioning when the vehicle is placed in reverse. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, which requires rear visibility.

When the rearview camera display does not function, the driver loses the ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This reduced rear visibility increases the risk of injury or traffic accidents.

Owners have been notified by mail as of December 20, 2024. Dealers will update the CVPAM software free of charge. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
