The Instrument Panel Cluster in certain 2024 Ford Mustang vehicles may not illuminate at startup or while driving, preventing drivers from seeing critical information like warning lights and vehicle speed. Ford will update the software at no charge.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall meets the 'High' severity criterion for risk-of-harm products where no injuries have been reported. The instrument panel is safety-critical, and its failure directly increases crash risk by preventing drivers from viewing essential vehicle information.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024 Mustang vehicles due to an issue with the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). The IPC may fail to illuminate at startup or during driving, which means drivers could be unable to see critical safety information such as warning lights and vehicle speed.
This defect violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 101 (Control and Displays) and 102 (Transmission shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect). The inability to display critical information increases the risk of a crash.
This recall affects 6,212 vehicles in the 2024 Mustang model year. Ford mailed owner notification letters on February 25, 2025. Owners should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 to schedule a free software update at an authorized dealer. Additional information is available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or nhtsa.gov.
