2025 Toyota Crown and related models instrument panel software display failure
Toyota is recalling certain 2023-2025 Crown and related Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to instrument panel software error preventing display of vehicle speed, brake warnings, and tire pressure. Remedy is free software update or component replacement.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The instrument panel software error creates a risk of harm by potentially preventing display of critical safety information (vehicle speed, brake status, tire pressure warnings). This fits the High category: a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported. It does not meet Severe criteria because no injuries, deaths, or hospitalizations have been reported.
Plain-English summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2023-2025 Toyota Crown, Venza, RAV4, RAV4 Prime, Highlander, GR Corolla, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, Camry, 4Runner, Crown Signia, and select Lexus models (TX, LS, RX). The recall affects approximately 591,377 vehicles.
A software error in the instrument panel may cause the display to fail at vehicle startup, preventing the showing of critical driving information: vehicle speed, brake system status, and tire pressure warning lights. According to NHTSA, an instrument panel that does not display critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Toyota began mailing owner notification letters on December 5, 2025, with additional letters anticipated in May 2026. This is a phased recall. Dealers will provide the remedy free of charge: for non-plug-in hybrid vehicles, an over-the-air software update; for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, an inspection of the instrument panel assembly followed by either a software update or component replacement. Owners should contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 or their dealer.
