Lexus and Toyota head restraints can be removed without the release button

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2024 Lexus RX 350 and RX 350h, and 2024-2025 NX 250, NX 350 and NX 350h vehicles. About 11,418 units are potentially affected.

The head restraints on the driver and front passenger seats may be inadvertently removed without pressing the lock release button. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 202, "Head Restraints".

NHTSA states that a head restraint that is inadvertently removed and not reinstalled can increase the risk of injury during a rear-end crash.

Dealers will replace the driver and front passenger head rest assemblies free of charge. Owner letters were mailed on February 14, 2025. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331, referencing recall numbers 24LB06 and 24LA06, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
