Plain-English summary
Volkswagen is recalling certain 2021-2023 ID.4 vehicles due to a software issue affecting the center display and instrument panel. These displays may fail to boot completely or reset unexpectedly during operation.

The affected vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101 (Control and Displays) and No. 111 (Rear Visibility).
Volkswagen began mailing owner notification letters on December 20, 2024. The company will repair affected vehicles free of charge by updating the vehicle software at a dealer.
