Jaguar I-PACE Turn Signal Failure Software Update Recall
Jaguar is recalling 2021-2024 I-PACE vehicles because the turn signal warning system may not activate when a turn signal fails. This violates safety standards and increases crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a vehicle safety defect affecting turn signal warning systems with no reported injuries or deaths. While inoperative turn signals create a meaningful crash risk, the hazard is theoretical rather than based on reported incidents, fitting the High severity category for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is recalling certain 2021-2024 Jaguar I-PACE vehicles. According to the NHTSA recall notice, approximately 2,015 vehicles are affected.
The recalled vehicles have a defect in the turn signal warning system. When a turn signal fails, the vehicle does not provide the driver with adequate notification. Specifically, the turn signal flash rate frequency does not adjust to alert the driver that the turn signal has stopped working. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard #108, which governs lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
Inoperative turn signals, particularly rear turn signals, may not adequately notify other drivers when a vehicle is turning. This significantly increases the risk of traffic crashes. Owners should contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 to schedule the software update. The remedy involves a free software update to the vehicle's Car Configuration File (CCF), which Jaguar dealers will perform at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 8, 2024. For more information, owners can contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
