What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This recall addresses a structural vehicle defect in the power steering system that can result in loss of both steering control and brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash. The defect qualifies as severe per the rubric criterion for structural vehicle defects.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ford E-350 and E-450 commercial vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels. An inadequate connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit may result in a sudden loss of power steering fluid.

When power steering fluid is lost, both power steering and power brake assist can be lost, increasing the risk of a crash. Approximately 16,543 vehicles are affected.

Ford dealers will replace the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 21, 2024. Vehicles previously remedied under recall 22V-089 will still require this new remedy.
