2022-2023 BMW iX and i4 Recalled for Battery Software Electrical Power Loss

BMW of North America is recalling certain 2022-2023 iX (including xDrive40, xDrive50, and M60 models), i4 (including eDrive35, eDrive40, and M50 models), and 2023 i7 xDrive60 vehicles. The affected vehicles' high voltage battery electronic control unit (ECU) software may malfunction and cause an interruption of electrical power. Approximately 14,086 vehicles are affected by this recall.
An interruption of electrical power may result in a sudden loss of drive power, which increases the risk of a crash.
BMW will remedy this defect at no cost by updating the high voltage battery ECU software at authorized dealerships. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning February 10, 2023.
