2022 Nissan Frontier left-rear seat belt bracket bolts loose

Certain 2022 Nissan Frontier vehicles have seat belt bracket mounting bolts on the left-rear seat that may have been incorrectly tightened. In a crash, a loose bracket may break, causing loss of seat belt restraint and increased injury risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall affects a critical safety component (seat belt restraints) and represents non-compliance with federal safety standards. No injuries or deaths are reported, and the hazard is theoretical. Per the rubric, recalls with no reported harm and theoretical hazards score at most 3.

Plain-English summary

Nissan is recalling certain 2022 Frontier vehicles due to incorrectly fastened mounting bolts on the left-rear seat belt bracket. These vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 207 (seating systems), 209 (seat belt assemblies), and 210 (seat belt anchorages).

During a crash, loose mounting bolts may allow the bracket to break, resulting in loss of seat belt restraint function and increased risk of injury. Approximately 425 vehicles are affected by this recall.

Owners were notified starting January 27, 2022. Nissan dealers will replace the mounting bolts and repair any damaged threads at no charge.
