What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (seat belt anchor) that increases the risk of injury in a crash, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a Severe (4) rating.

Plain-English summary

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab vehicles manufactured between June 11, 2014, and June 26, 2014. The recall involves 1,319 vehicles that were manufactured with an out-of-specification anchor nut installed on the weld nut plate where the rear seat belt anchor is attached. This defect may prevent the seat belt anchor bolt from being attached as designed.

If the seat belt anchor bolt is not attached as designed, it increases the risk of injury in the event of a vehicle crash. The recall began on August 18, 2014.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt anchor attachment and repair it if necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
