2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Beam Headlights May Not Activate
In certain 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles, the high beam headlights will not activate when the lighting switch is in auto position unless the switch is first changed to on. This defect reduces visibility and increases crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a risk-of-harm vehicle safety defect affecting a critical system (headlights and visibility) with demonstrated noncompliance with federal safety standards. However, no injuries or crashes have been reported, so the hazard remains theoretical. Per the rubric, defects with potential for harm but no reported injury score at most 3.
