Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles due to a radio software error. The error may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying on the vehicle's screen.
When the rearview image fails to display, the driver loses the benefit of rear visibility provided by the camera system. This reduction in rear visibility increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles affected by this recall fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which establishes rear visibility requirements.
Approximately 69,138 vehicles are affected. Owners of affected vehicles should contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for assistance. FCA US LLC will provide a free software update to address this issue. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 28, 2021. FCA US LLC's reference number for this recall is Y67.
