2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Tail Light Side Marker Assembly Replacement
Chrysler is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles due to damaged tail light side marker assemblies that may not illuminate, reducing visibility and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a vehicle safety defect affecting exterior lighting (tail light assemblies that may fail to illuminate). While this increases crash risk, no injuries or deaths have been reported. This meets the rubric criterion for High severity: 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.'
Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles. The tail light side marker assemblies may be damaged and fail to illuminate properly.
These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108 for lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. Non-illuminating tail lights reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Owners should contact their Jeep dealer immediately to arrange a free inspection and replacement of both body-mounted tail light assemblies as necessary. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 8, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number Z50) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
