The recall addresses a defect where the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) listed on the vehicle's dashboard, certification label, and body-in-white do not match. This discrepancy causes the vehicle to fail compliance with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The mismatched VIN may prevent the consumer from receiving information about open safety-recall campaigns. This lack of information increases the risk of injury, a crash, or fire.
