Certain 2019–2021 BMW Models Recalled for Brake System Defect

Plain-English summary

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2019–2021 BMW vehicles equipped with integrated brake systems. The rotor and shaft within the integrated brake system may not have been welded properly, which could cause these components to separate during hard braking events. This separation could result in loss of the Antilock Brake System (ABS) and braking assistance, increasing the risk of a crash.

The affected vehicles include the 3 Series, 4 Series, 7 Series, 8 Series, X5, X6, and X7 models from model years 2019–2021. A total of 893 vehicles are potentially affected.

To remedy this issue, BMW will replace the integrated brake system at no cost. Owners were notified by mail on May 25, 2021. Owners should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a replacement appointment.
