BMW Sedans and SUVs May Have Improperly Welded Seat Frames
Certain 2019-2021 BMW 330i, M340i, X3, and X4 vehicles may have seat frames improperly welded to the seat rails. An improperly welded frame could fail to properly restrain occupants during a crash, increasing injury risk.

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2019-2021 BMW 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i xDrive, 2020-2021 X3 sDrive30i, X3 xDrive30i, X3 M40i, X3M, 2021 X3 xDrive30e, X4 xDrive30i, and X4M vehicles due to an improper welding defect in the seat frame.
The seat frame may not have been welded properly to the seat rails. In the event of a crash, an improperly welded seat frame may fail to properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
Approximately 51 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 22, 2023.
Owners should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule a remedy appointment. Dealers will replace the seat frame and back rest free of charge.
