Plain-English summary
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, and Business Class M2 trucks, as well as Western Star 4700 and 4900 trucks. These vehicles are equipped with specific Bridgestone M854, M860A, and M864 tires in size 425/65R22.5 with date codes ranging from 2318 to 2518.
The defect involves the sidewall steel body cords of the tires, which may be exposed. This exposure can lead to unexpected, rapid air loss during use, which increases the risk of a crash.
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected tires, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 8, 2018. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
