Nova Bus is recalling certain 2013 LFS transit buses equipped with transmission oil coolers. The recall addresses a defect in the engine and engine cooling system where a failure in the transmission oil cooler could allow transmission fluid to mix with the coolant circulating through the passenger compartment heating system.
Exposure to transmission fluid may degrade the PEX connectors of the heating system. This degradation can result in hot coolant leaking into the passenger area. Leaking coolant could come into contact with passengers, increasing their risk of injury.
The recall began on March 6, 2018. Nova will notify owners, and dealers will replace the PEX fittings with brass fittings, free of charge. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-800-350-6682 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Nova's number for this recall is CR4226.
