These vehicles were equipped with specific aluminum ladders manufactured by Christianson Industries that feature retractable hinges with a welded 'top hat' component.
The defect involves the potential separation of the 'top hat' from the hinge. If this separation occurs while the ladder is in use, the ladder may fall from the vehicle, which increases the risk of injury to the user.
