AEV Traumahawk Ambulances Recalled for Defective Attendant Seat Tracks
Halcore Group is recalling 2016-2017 AEV Traumahawk ambulances because defective seat tracks may cause the attendant seat to move rapidly during a crash, increasing injury risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (seat tracks) that can cause significant injury to occupants during a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Halcore Group, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 American Emergency Vehicle (AEV) Traumahawk ambulances. The affected vehicles were manufactured between August 1, 2016, and September 28, 2016. A total of 41 vehicles are affected by this recall.
The recall is due to a problem with the seat tracks. In a rapid deceleration event, such as a crash, the attendant seat(s) may unexpectedly move forward at a high rate of speed. This movement increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Halcore will notify owners, and dealers will replace the seat tracks free of charge. The recall began on October 29, 2016. Owners may contact the AEV Warranty/Customer Service Department at 1-800-374-9749 or by email at [email protected]. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
