Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chrysler 200 vehicles manufactured between March 9, 2014, and December 15, 2014. These vehicles are equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The recall affects 21,466 vehicles.
The automatic transmission parking pawl may become contaminated, or the park rod may become dislodged or broken. This defect may prevent the transmission from shifting into the Park position. If the shift indicator displays "Park" but the park lock does not engage, the vehicle may roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission. Any transmission found with contamination or a defective park rod will be replaced free of charge. The recall began on April 9, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R08.
