Highland Ridge RV is recalling certain model year 2015 Highland Ridge FW Open Range 3X recreational trailers. The recall covers 284 units manufactured between August 5, 2014, and November 17, 2014. These vehicles are equipped with Latitude Awnings styles GX and G manufactured by Carefree of Colorado between April 10, 2014, and November 4, 2014.
The defect involves screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets, which were not manufactured to specification. If these screws fail, the supporting bracket and the awning could fall, potentially injuring a person standing beneath it.
Highland will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective screws free of charge. The recall began in February 2015.
