Chrysler Recalls 2008-2010 Minivans and SUVs for Ignition Switch Defect

Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town and Country, and 2009-2010 Dodge Journey vehicles. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between January 26, 2007, and June 17, 2010. This action is an expansion of a previous recall (11V-139).
The defect involves the ignition switch, which may move out of the run position due to road conditions or other jarring events. If the ignition key moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off. This action depowers key safety systems, including air bags, power steering, and power braking. The loss of these systems may increase the risk of a crash or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Until the recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key, and remove any key fob. Dealers will replace the ignition switch and key FOBs free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2015.
