Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain 2008 and 2009 model year Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country passenger vehicles. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between February 2007 and September 2009. The total number of affected vehicles is 284,655.
The defect involves an improperly routed wire harness in some vehicles. This condition allows the lower sliding door hinge bracket to make contact with and wear through the wire insulation. This wear can lead to a short circuit inside the sliding door, which may overheat the latch and potentially result in a fire.
