MCI Motor Coaches Recalled for Interior Lighting Fire Risk

Motor Coach Industries is recalling certain 2009-2011 MCI D4000, D4500, and 2010 D4505 motor coaches because excessive power draw from LED interior lights may cause heat buildup and fire.

The defect involves excessive power draw from the LED lights, which may cause heat to build up at the fuse block and connector. This heat can cause the components to melt, potentially damaging surrounding material and causing it to burn, which increases the risk of a fire.

MCI will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuse holders free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-847-285-2090. MCI's number for this recall is 388B. This recall supersedes recall 12V-250, and motorcoaches remedied under the previous campaign must also be remedied under this one.
