The defect involves potential circuit corrosion caused by water intrusion around the in-floor battery cover and door footwell trim.

This water intrusion may affect the vehicle's running and disable the air bags, stop lamps, turn signals, backup lights, and/or door locks. The recall notice states that these issues increase the risk of a crash and injury to occupants if the air bags do not deploy.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect connectors in the footwell areas, the ignition fuse, and the occupant restraint control (ORC) module for corrosion. If corrosion is found, dealers will repair the connectors and ignition fuse, replace the ORC module, install a water barrier sealer, add di-electric grease to connectors, and replace the body plug. The in-floor battery ignition fuse will also be relocated. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on October 3, 2014, and an interim letter was distributed to owners on July 30, 2014.
