What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (accelerator pedal) that can cause uncontrolled acceleration and increase the risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2014 Ram ProMaster vehicles manufactured between July 1, 2013, and December 10, 2013. The recall involves 7,935 vehicles.

In the affected vehicles, the accelerator pedal may get stuck in the wide open throttle position if pushed downward at a certain angle due to interference with the accelerator pedal stopper. A stuck accelerator pedal can result in uncontrolled acceleration, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the accelerator pedal stopper with a larger one free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403. These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system that allows the driver to brake and stop the vehicle if the pedal is trapped.
