Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 International DuraStar, WorkStar, ProStar, and TranStar vehicles. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between November 2012 and February 2014 that were built with specific air disc brake feature codes (04WEY, 04WEZ, or 04WZK). The defect involves an incorrect number of bolts mounting the brake caliper to the mounting plate, or bolts that may be improperly torqued.
If the air disc brake caliper has loose or missing bolts, it may come loose from the mounting plate. This can cause the vehicle to pull left or right while braking and lengthen the distance needed to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. The recall began on May 7, 2014.
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace any missing bolts and check the torque of all air disc brake caliper bolts free of charge. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
