The recall addresses a design change in the power awning motor assembly that may cause the motor assembly screws to shear unknowingly. If the screws shear, the awning can unfurl unexpectedly while the vehicle is at rest or in transit, which increases the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Owners are instructed not to drive their vehicles until repairs can be performed. Fleetwood RV will notify owners, and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with motors of a different design. The recall began in June 2013.
