Plain-English summary
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is recalling certain model year 2013 Jaguar XF vehicles manufactured between October 3, 2012, and October 12, 2012. These vehicles are equipped with a gasoline engine. The recall addresses a defect in the electronic modules that control the fuel pump.
The electronic modules may shut down, causing the fuel pump to stop pumping fuel. This results in fuel starvation, which causes the engine to stall. An engine stall without warning while driving may lead to a loss of motive power, power-assisted braking, and power-assisted steering. Each of these conditions may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Jaguar Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional wiring harness to the in-tank fuel pump free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2013. Owners may contact Jaguar Land Rover at 1-800-452-4827 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
