Plain-English summary
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Jaguar XF vehicles equipped with 2.0L GTDi engines. These vehicles were manufactured between May 16, 2012, and June 15, 2015. The recall affects 6,938 vehicles.
The defect involves the retaining bolt for the Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) idler pulley on the engine, which may fail. This failure can result in a loss of power steering assist, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the FEAD pulley assembly free of charge. Owners were sent interim notifications on May 28, 2016, and the recall began on July 1, 2016. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
