Coach and Equipment Recalls Phoenix and Metro-Lite Transit Buses
Coach and Equipment is recalling 2006-2012 Phoenix and 2007/2009 Metro-Lite transit buses because a wheelchair lift cable may cause a short circuit and fire.

Coach and Equipment Mfg Corp. is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Phoenix transit buses manufactured between August 2006 and November 2012, as well as 2007 and 2009 Metro Lite transit buses manufactured between January 2007 and December 2009. These vehicles are equipped with Ricon-manufactured wheelchair lifts featuring an optional armored pendant cable.
The defect involves the installation of the armored pendant cable, which may not clear the wheelchair lift or may lack a protective cover, or have a misinstalled cover. This condition allows the cable to contact the power lug at the base of the wheelchair lift, potentially causing a short circuit that could result in a fire.
Ricon will conduct the recall on behalf of Coach and Equipment Mfg Corp. and will notify affected owners. Ricon will provide a supplemental cover kit and instructions free of charge. Owners may contact Coach and Equipment Mfg Corp. at 1-800-946-7513 or Ricon at 1-818-267-3000. The recall campaign began on December 11, 2012.
