The Metro Lite buses were manufactured between May and June 2013, while the Phoenix buses were manufactured between March and April 2013. These vehicles are equipped with specific Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts that include an optional armored pendant cable.
The recall addresses a defect where the armored cable may be positioned in a way that it does not clear the wheelchair lift. If the cable contacts the power lug and lacks a proper nonconductive cover, a short circuit may occur, which could result in a fire.
Coach and Equipment will notify owners, and Ricon will send a supplemental cover kit and instructions free of charge. The recall was expected to begin in June 2014. Owners can contact Coach and Equipment customer service at 1-315-536-2321 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884.
