Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (fuel line disconnection) that poses a risk of fire, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a Severe (4) rating.
Plain-English summary
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, and FGB72 trucks. The recall involves approximately 6,520 vehicles.
The fuel line may disconnect from the fuel filter head due to an improperly machined connector. As the fuel line loosens and detaches, it may leak fuel. Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source, such as high-temperature components, may increase the risk of a fire.
MFTA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected fuel filter head free of charge. The safety recall began on December 19, 2012. Owners may contact MFTA at 1-856-467-4500 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
