The self-latching mechanism used to retain the seat cushion to the frame may not activate. Consequently, these seats fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection." If the seat cushion is not securely latched, the seat could become dislodged, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
