Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2002 through 2011 Western Star 4900 SA trucks manufactured between December 21, 2001, and June 4, 2010. The recall addresses a defect in the spacer used to connect the aft steer axle idler arm to the frame rail.

Under severe steering conditions, this spacer may develop cracks and eventually break. If this occurs, the idler arm can separate from the frame rail, resulting in diminished steering control. This loss of control increases the risk of a crash.
