The wooden puzzles feature animal-shaped pieces with textured bodies and a central peg used to remove and replace the pieces. The pegs can separate from the puzzle pieces, creating a choking hazard for young children.

Approximately 14,400 puzzles were sold nationwide between November 1991 and January 1992 for about $10 each. The puzzles are hand-painted with "crafted by hand" on the front and include a label on the back stating "FUZZY PUZZLES, Ages 1-1/2 to 4 Made in Taiwan." No model numbers are listed on the products. The company reported the issue to the CPSC after receiving a consumer complaint. The CPSC has received six reports of pegs separating, including two instances where pegs were found in children's mouths. No injuries have been reported.
