The puzzles were sold at toy stores nationwide from April 1998 through February 1999 for approximately $5. CPSC and Safari Ltd. are not aware of any complaints or injuries involving these puzzles; the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries. This matter was brought to CPSC's attention by the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection.

Consumers should immediately take these puzzles away from young children and return them to Safari Ltd. for a refund or a replacement. For return instructions, consumers should call Safari Ltd. at (800) 615-3111 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Other Shapes Safari puzzles currently on the market, specifically model 9549-12, have been redesigned and are not involved in this recall.
