Kiddie Products, Inc. is voluntarily recalling approximately 165,400 "2 ULTRA KIP Pacifiers Infant Size," model number 1201. These pacifiers were sold nationwide from January 1990 to September 1992 for approximately $2.99 each. The pacifiers feature a white plastic shield with a green or blue plug on the back and a latex nipple in the front. The white shield is engraved with "(C)'90 the first years," and the plug displays a yellow duck or a white and purple dog. The packaging indicates the product is "Made in Germany."
The recall is being conducted because the pacifiers may break during use, producing small parts that could be a fatal choking hazard to young children. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any injuries involving this product. However, the CPSC received one consumer complaint regarding a nipple detaching from a pacifier being used by a three-month-old child.
