These defects present a significant risk of injury to young children who may not be able to stop the bicycle effectively using handbrakes.

For the 12-inch bicycle, repairs involve removing the handbrakes. For the 16-inch bicycle, repairs involve retrofitting a new seat post to raise the seat so the bicycle is no longer classified as a sidewalk bicycle.
