Plain-English summary
CBS Inc. is recalling specific "Clippety Clop," "Comanche," and "Colt" Wonder horse ride-on toys because the plastic bodies may break during use. The toys consist of a painted plastic body suspended by four springs from a metal frame, designed for children to sit on and rock or bounce. CBS has received 105 complaints that the toy body broke without warning, causing the rider to fall suddenly. Forty of these incidents resulted in injuries, including cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
The affected toys were produced and distributed to retailers between March 1984 and May 1986 and sold nationally for approximately $60 each. Only units produced prior to June 1986 by the Wonder Unit of CBS Toys are affected. Consumers can identify non-affected units by looking for a silver label on the horse's belly or a number higher than 86207 stamped on the belly; these were produced from a modified mold beginning in June 1986.
Because the firm is out of business, a replacement is no longer available. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and discard or destroy it. Retailers should remove the product from sale. Consumers may call the CPSC toll-free hotline at 800-638-CPSC for assistance in identifying the recalled products.
