The separation was identified during CPSC structural integrity testing, which involved boiling the pacifier and subjecting the handle to pull forces. The affected pacifiers feature a rigid plastic shield with two vent holes and the words "MADE IN JAPAN" embossed on the surface. The shields are white, orange, or yellow, and the nipple and handle are made of a single piece of rubber with a white plastic squeaker on the end. These pacifiers were sold between July and December 1984.
