Bassett Candlelite and Mandalay Cribs Recalled Due to Entrapment Deaths

Two additional deaths occurred in 1983, involving a thirteen-month-old girl in the Sacramento, California, area and a fifteen-month-old boy in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. The CPSC suspects that cribs not reached by the original recall have been removed from storage and handed down or sold second-hand.

Owners of these cribs are urged to immediately unscrew the four corner posts, though this action alone may not eliminate the hazard. Consumers must also contact Bassett Consumer Affairs at (540) 629-6000 to obtain a free modification kit.
