These cribs were manufactured between February 1974 and October 1976 and sold nationwide for approximately $100 to $125 each.
The CPSC believes the design of the headboards and footboards on these specific models may permit infants to become entrapped and strangle while standing in the cribs. One report of such an incident is currently being investigated. The model numbers are printed on adhesive labels affixed to the headboards below the mattress level.
Consumers who possess one of these affected cribs are urged to immediately remove all four finials (the top part of the corner post) by rotating them counterclockwise until they unscrew and can be lifted off. Consumers should report the removal of the finials to the retailer from whom the crib was purchased, or to the nearest Bassett retailer if that is not possible.
