TT Trsmima zipline kits and Heavy Duty Stainless Steel zipline spring brakes have been recalled. The kits include the components and instructions to install a 76- to 200-foot backyard zipline for use by children and adults: a cable, a turnbuckle or ratchet strap, a green or blue plastic seat, a waist belt or harness, a black or blue trolley, a spring brake and additional hardware.
Some trolleys carry the name "TT TRSMIMA" in white lettering, and some plastic seats carry a label stating in part "Manufacturer Name: HuNanBoLuoDianZiShangWuYouXianGongSi". The spring brakes have black stoppers on each end, no labelling or instructions, and were also sold separately for installation with a purchaser's own zipline.
The kit's steel cable, turnbuckle and seat can detach or break during use, posing a fall hazard. The spring brakes are not stiff enough to slow a rider safely and the kit design does not include an emergency brake, posing collision and fall hazards. The firm has received 21 reports of the turnbuckle, cable or seat breaking or detaching during use, resulting in falls and at least eight injuries such as fractures, sprains, bruises and scratches. It has also received 19 reports of spring brakes failing to slow a rider safely, resulting in collisions with trees and falls, including at least 12 injuries such as fractures, concussions and abrasions.
Stop using the zipline kits and spring brakes immediately and contact Trsmima for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to uninstall the kit and destroy it by cutting the safety belt, seat rope and, where included, the ratchet strap in half, then discard all components including the cable, spring brake, turnbuckle and trolley.
