SRAM Recalls Hydraulic Bicycle Brakes Due to Crash and Injury Hazards

The recalled models include the SB Red Hydraulic Road Disc, SB Red Hydraulic Road Rim, SB 700 Hydraulic Road Disc, and SB 700 Hydraulic Road Rim. These brakes were sold as aftermarket products and as original equipment on various bicycle brands, including ASI, Cannondale, Diamondback, Felt, Jamis, Kona, Norco, Orbea, Specialized, Giant, and Trek, from May 2013 to December 2013.
The brake systems can fail, posing a crash and injury hazard. SRAM received 95 reports of brakes failing in the U.S. One minor injury was reported in the U.S. and another in Australia.
Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled SRAM brake systems. They should contact any SRAM dealer to arrange for a free replacement product to be installed and to receive a $200 product voucher or cash per customer. The recalled brakes have the digit "3" as the fourth digit of the serial number, which can be found on the bottom of the caliper body.
