SUNS International is recalling about 7,000 SS6291 Solenoid Interlock Switches used in residential elevators because they can become stuck, allowing the exterior door to remain unlocked and creating a risk of death or serious injury.

The affected switches were produced from August 20, 2024, through November 6, 2025, with date codes 2431 through 2543. Approximately 7,000 units were sold nationwide through SUNS International and authorized residential elevator dealers between September 2024 and November 2025.

The interlock switches can become stuck in a retracted position, which allows the exterior door to remain unlocked. This poses a risk of death or serious injury if the elevator is called to another floor. SUNS has received one report of the interlock switch becoming stuck, but no injuries have been reported.
